SYPA 2010 Entries

18 04 2010

I submitted the following 6 shots for Singapore Young Photographer’s Award 2010.
I doubt these are award winning shots; but I guess there’s no harm in trying.
Nonetheless, hope you enjoy them.

Razor Facade, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.
I submitted this under Architecture.
Basically it’s just the facade of the Esplanade.
Shot this in beginning 2010 with EOS 400D.

Firehouse, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.
I submitted this under Architecture too!
Central Fire Station building taken along City Hall.
Shot this in April 2010 with EOS 7D.

Candlelight Trail, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.
I submitted this under Night Scene.
This photo was taken at St. Joseph’s Parlour of Repose located along Bugis.
The photo captures the light trail from the masses holding out their candles in lieu of Good Friday.
Shot this in beginning 2010 with EOS 7D.

Punk Princess, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.
Submitted under Portrait.
A portrait shot taken against a door.
This portraiture hopes to capture the teenage angst within the model and highlight the trending alternative cultures.
Taken with my EOS 7D in April 2010

Diabolical Glare, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.
Submitted under Nature.
This photo of Singapore Zoo’s white tiger was taken during the feeding time.
This shot was taken when the tiger was waiting in the waters for its food.
Captured by my EOS 400D back in 2009.

Floral Bliss, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.

Submitted under Nature.
I managed to capture this beautiful flower, with unique layered petals, while roaming about in Singapore Zoo.
Taken with my EOS 400D back in 2009.

I’m so glad SYPA is finally over.
The hard part was printing and mounting the prints.
Spent quite a lot of money on printing and materials for mounting; yet alone time spent.
The really annoying thing is that SYPA won’t return us our mounted prints even if we do not win.
That’s like practically burning away money!
They should seriously go digital!

Ring Around the Rosy

5 04 2010

Ring Around the Rosy, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.

Well, I covered this theatre event called Spotlight.
A drama showcase by the Junior High students.

I was restricted equipment wise.
Like all other theatre photog, No-Flash rule.
Also, under low light conditions, Kit Lens sucks big time!
Only could wish I had my 50/1.4 with me.

I was lucky enough to get this shot, which i think is kind of cool.
Motion blue with focus on the person in the middle.

The Shuttler’s Event

Well.
i recently covered a badminton event
Indian Badminton Team Challenge 2009 to be exact
it was a very cheap gig.
mainly because this was my first event coverage
and because i did not have the adequate equipment for low light conditon
my stupid kit lens did not serve me well (no surprise there)

it’s not that i don’t want to invest on primes
it’s just that i don’t want to invest on CANON
i am quite certain that i’m changing camps soon
so i don’t want to waste my money on canon lens right now.

anyways these two shots were my favourite
mainly because the objects were static
unlike the other human subjects who were in continual motion
so enjoy the shuttles now
maybe later i’ll post some interesting human shots taken during the event.

“London” Bridge is falling down

8 05 2009

my semester examinations are over.
sadly, i feel that the bridge is gonna fall right on me.
i feel disappointed..
but what the hell.
i’ve got to pick myself and cross the bridge.

Photographers’ Guild

It’s hard being gentle, originally uploaded by KRJphotography.

It’s weird that photographers spend years or even a whole lifetime, trying to capture moments that added together, don’t even amount to a couple of hours.

Photography is our personal choice for an aphrodisiac.
